Danny victorious in Texas as Leopard Racing takes double podium
Danny Kent dominated today’s Moto3™ Grand Prix of The America in style, claiming a superb victory, and with Efren Vazquez in third it was cause for celebration for Leopard Racing.
It was a lonely ride for Danny, who started at the top spot of the grid for the third time in his career, but the Honda rider’s display today in Austin was more than clever. Just shortly before the lights went out he changed his strategy because there were still remaining some wet patches on the track, but as soon as he found his rhythm Kent took the lead in lap three and immediately pulled away.
The Moto3 World Series continues in one week’s time in Argentina at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit.
#52 Danny KENT – Winner, World Championship position 1st:
“I’m very pleased with this victory, because we had a strong pace all weekend and I was able to keep this pace all time by myself. For today my strategy was to pull away straight from the beginning, but going on the grid I changed my plan due to the track conditions. After the start I dropped back a few positions, because there were some wet patches on the track. But step by step I went faster and faster and I was able to close the gap to the front group and take the lead. Next time I had a look on the board I saw eight seconds and from this point on it was all about concentration and staying on the bike. Leading the field I could chose my line however I want in order to avoid to hit a damp patch on track. But I brought it home safely so I’m really happy, even more to win in this way and also for the lead in the world standings. But we must keep our feet on the ground because there are 16 races remaining. Since my last victory it took a while but better late than never. Finally thanks to my team for the incredible job they did all weekend, as well to all our sponsors. Today we’ve something to celebrate.”
