Leopard Racing launches 2016 campaign
The 2016 campaign of Leopard Racing in the Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships was officially launched today. After no less than four private tests in February, (Barcelona, Jerez and Valencia) which saw the bikes tasting the tarmac for the first time, the five stars of the team have left the track to get on stage for the official unveiling.
In order to underline the importance, the Gallano Castle and its region – whose history goes back to the X and XI centuries – were chosen as the ideal venue for the event. In 1997 the area was hit by a heavy earthquake and thanks to the pride and love of the Bacca family, the area has been completely restored. The project got started in 2008 and was recognized by UNESCO last October as a result of the effort and dedication put in.
With the amazing Amy Dargan hosting the ceremony, Leopard Racing unveiled their new colours, with the introduction of carbon inserts in place of the classic black, and bikes that will race on circuits around the world in a season full of challenges. Team managers Miodrag Kotur and Stefen Kiefer will lead the charge under the technical supervision of Christian Lundberg.
Reigning Moto3 World Champion Danny Kent and his teammate, Portuguese Miguel Oliveira, will lead the charge on a brand new Kalex in 2016. The pair, who fought against each other for the Moto3 title until the very last race of the 2015 season, will now join forces with the common objective of scoring good results during this new adventure, which will begin on March 20th in Qatar.
#52 Danny Kent:
“Yes I’m really looking forward to this year, especially going into Moto2 with the same team that we won the Moto3 championship. Already we’ve had a few tests and it’s been very positive. Even though I’ve had a year in 2013 with the Tech 3 team I feel this year we are in a much better position. I’m with a great team and we’re using a great bike. I’m really looking forward to it.”
