Danny Kent makes steps forward as Assen weekend gets underway
A good start for the Leopard Racing team at the Dutch TT in Assen. The 4.5km long track, host to round eight of the 2016 championship, saw both Danny Kent and teammate Miguel Oliveira as protagonists of the Moto2 class. The pair both looked to understand the tyres and improve the balance of their bikes.
It was a positive Friday from teammate Danny Kent, the Brit using the first session of the day to evaluate two different types of rear tyres. In the afternoon the Moto3 World Champion sought to improve the balance of his bike to work in the fast and slow corners, finding nearly a second to improve his time to a 1’38.875.
Tomorrow practice resumes at 10:55 (GMT +2) for the third practice session before Qualifying commences at 15:05 for the intermediate class.
#52 Danny KENT – 14th (1’38.875):
“It was actually one of our better Fridays. Peter worked hard in the small gap between sessions and I felt better straight away. We used a used tyre at the start and we set our best lap at the end with the harder tyre. Usually there’s a few tenths with the soft tyre so that’s positive and there were also some mistakes on my fast lap. I know we can get closer to the front and if we keep going like this I’ll be happy.”
