Danny Kent takes points away from tough Austrian GP
After the triumph in Moto3 of Leopard Racing’s Joan Mir with his first career victory, the Red Bull Ring was ready to host the Moto2 class with the two Leopard teammates Danny Kent and Miguel Oliveira also looking to be protagonists of the events and ready to do their best when the lights went out.
Danny Kent’s race got off to a rough start and he dropped down the order. The Moto3 champion soon rallied and got into a groove, posting very competitive lap times.
His 12th position betrayed his true potential, the Brit proving he and the Kalex are working well together and the best is yet to come.
#52 Danny KENT – 12th:
“This is by far our best race of the year. I was able to get a good start but unfortunately in the first couple laps I dropped back to 20th but once I got into my rhythm it was ok. I was able to post some good times, I got down to a 29.8 which is point faster than qualifying lap and 0.3 in Moto2 is maybe two or three rows. Our pace the last ten laps was the same pace as the top five. Really happy with the race even if 12th doesn’t show our full potential.”
