Danny qualifies 8th at Brno, but penalty puts him 16th on grid
Danny Kent and teammate Miguel Oliveira confirmed the good performance of yesterday and the growing feeling around the 5.4 Km Automotodrom Brno. The two riders of the Leopard Racing Moto2 team have improved their best laps, able to equal their previous best qualifying performances.
As was the case in Argentina this year, Danny Kent today will start from the third row of the intermediate class, posting the eighth fastest lap time with a 2’02.289.
The Briton, who last season in Moto3 qualified second, concluded the morning in 10th place; in the afternoon the Chippenham lad has further lowered his best time, closing the gap to only 0.7s from pole man Marco.
Danny suffered a penalty however for low tyre pressures and will start from sixteenth on the grid.
Tomorrow at 09:10 Local Time (GMT +2), the riders will be back on track for 20 minutes of warm-up before the lights go out at 12:20 Local Time for the eleventh race of the 2016 Moto2 World Championship.
#52 Danny KENT – 8th (2’02.289):
“Finally we had a good qualifying. Overall this weekend has been a great weekend for me and the team. Every session we’ve been inside the top ten and within half a second of the top ten. Since the Austrian test, the two day test e had, we definitely made a step forward and confirmed it this weekend by being consistently inside the top ten. I’m happy to equal my best Qualifying of the year, my pace is quite fast so we just have to wait and see if it rains because the forecast is not looking great. We’ll just have to open the curtains and see!”
