Danny Kent to sit out Austrian GP

Danny Kent hurt himself more than expected during the crash in FP1 on Friday morning at Spielberg. Additional to the hematoma in his backside he also suffered from a stiff neck and headache.

After the FP3 on Saturday, a whiplash was confirmed by the Clinica Mobile. The young Brit tried to ride anyway in the afternoon’s Qualifying, however his headache got worse and it was difficult for him to complete many laps in a row.

Therefore the 23-year-old and the team decided to resign from a start into the 25 laps long race tomorrow.

“Unfortunately, after my crash yesterday when I was taken out by accident by Alex Marquez, I’ve had a bad neck pain since. I visited Clinica Mobile today after FP3 and they confirmed I had whiplash and taped my neck for some support. In qualifying it was hard for me to hold my head on the straight and complete consecutive laps, so together with the team we agreed to stop our weekend here. I’m really disappointed not to be able to race and I’d like to thank the Intact Dynavolt team for this opportunity.”
